Favourite scene?

Haven't noticed this question on the board yet so just thought I'd ask, lol.

My fave scene is where Jang-Saeng and Gong-gil have just arrived at Han-yang (Chosun dynasty name for Seoul) and Jang-Saeng is imitating the sexy sashay of pretty women walking on the street. That just totally cracked me up, it was sooo adorable and funny!

Mine would be the scene where Gong-gil got sick after having too much drink following their first successful performance where

Jang-Saeng ask Gong-gil "Feel Good?"
"Yeah"
"Why feel so good?"
"It's all good."

The other one would of course be the "honeymoon" scene in the extended version. :p

There's a honeymoon scene??? between who???? jang-seng and gong-gil were supposed to have died at the end!!!

MY FAV. SCENE has to be the last bit between jang-seng and gong-gil on teh tightrope. I was sobbing and watcing it over and over.. and over...

God, this is such a great movie.

reply

It's in the extended version...not really a honeymoon scene...just some fooling around between Jang Saeng and Gong-gil :P

reply

... when??? :|

The 'honeymoon' scene happened right after the audition scene, can be seen in the Extended Director's cut (Korean deluxe DVD boxset).

Oh I know which scene you're talking about! It's been dubbed 'the honeymoon scene' cuz there's this totally just-married vibe in it lol! Jang-saeng and Gong-gil are adjusting their play props - clothes, masks, fans etc - and they have this playful banter going on and then they do this cute little tussle that is so sweeeeeeet.......(sigh)

I think it was the actor of Jang-saeng (Kam Woo-seong) who called this 'the honeymoon scene'. He said in a Japanese magazine interview that it was an ad lib scene they added after finishing shooting early one day. During the shoot, his mouth was injured by Gong-gil's actor Lee Jun ki's knee that he had to get 6 stitches. He regreted that his bloody effort didn't make into the final theatrical cut. ^^;;

Hmm, the "honeymoon" scene is really funny. I like the pause before Gong-gil slaps Jang-Saeng with his fan. That scene was just so cute. Hehe. I thought a lot of the scenes were very good, but weren't favourite material because they were sad. You know, like the scene where Gong-gil is begging the king not to kill Jang-Saeng (the night before).

my favorite scene has to be when all the clowns are talking amongst themselves after the King used the play to kill off the queen and the sisters. and they are sitting around and saying "What the hell is going on here?" Their disbelief and stunned amazement to the surrealness of the situation just cracks me up!!! lolz

My favourite scene is right at the end, when Jang-Sang and Gong-Gil are reunited on the tightrope. As they run across horizontally, the army rampages across the palace floor. The widescreen of this particular shot really does it proud and I think it's the most beautiful shot...though it is very quick!

Just watched the movie a few days ago, several times now. :)

So many good scenes there, but if I had to pick the most memorable one... This was probably not so obvious one but the escape scene where Jang-seng and Gong-gil are surrounded by the crowd to catch them. This is before the troupe leader is killed. If you look closely, even as he is fighting ferociously, Jang-seng is ever so protective of Gong-gil, like taking a hit while covering Gong-gil with his body. To me, that was so touching. I savored every little scenes between those two where you can feel the tremendous affection between them -- not in an erotic sense, mind you. Affection that is beyond friendship, brotherhood or even love... something that is so rare in this world.

Another equally memorable was a few scenes involving the king. The scene where Gong-gil pours him wine after the king reveals his pain through the brief shadow theater performance. A single tear rolls down his cheek as he downs the glass of wine. Together with the soulful melody in the background, that particular scene brings the audience so close to the king, as a person. King Yon-san has been depicted usually with something of a stereotype in Korean dramas and movies. Here, we see him in a radically different way.

Any scenes Where King Yon-san involves with. This actor was a revealation!

The last scene were they were reunited on the tightrope it was just so moving.

The last scene before the king has his eye's burnt out.And he is on the rope's talking about the king had a big ding-a-ling, or however he described it and he had all the women in the land, then got bored so took a man.The king's face turn's from laughter to rage amd starts firing arrow's at him.
