I thought I saw the whole movie but I must have missed something after reading the posts. The part when she is in the sheriffs office and he says he killed the killer after they found a boys body in the truck. Did the boyfriend really die, or is that more of the "hell"? If he did actually die was it before the girl or after, and why doesn't the sheriff mention it in his office or in the killers house when he asked him why he killed "the boy". No mention of the girl.
shareyes the boyfriend really died. he chopped up the boyfriend and left him in the back of his truck. he cut off her face and buried her in the field. it wasn't very well written - although the plot was great - so expect there to be some breaks in continuity like the one you pointed out. i'm sure i'll be ridiculed for this, but shymalan could have written/directed the hell out of a movie like this (as long as he stayed away from narfs and the like).
shareMaybe the reason he didn't mention the girl's death was because he didn't know about she was dead, since the body was still missing, so he just asked why he killed the boy and then the sheriff was forced to kill Duke before he was able to ask about the girl.
