The music is so bad.

It almost feels like there's three different people responsible for scoring this film. One guy put in the really great, droning, Angelo Badalamenti-like music that truly worked and built tension. The second guy put in the blaring horns, piano, bells, and other goofy nonsense that sounds like it's from an 80s slasher. Then the third guy put in the awful girl band butt rock that completely ruins every scene that features it, including what could have been a truly scary climax.

The scene where she goes to the field herself could have been really sad and horrifying, but the tone is completely ruined by the music. Did the filmmakers not have enough faith in what they were making? When it's at its simplest, the movie works so well. Why all the jarring musical changes?

I agree on the music, it was all over the place, and that horrid girl-band (whoever they were) was simply unbearable. This is one of the few films I've seen where the soundtrack actually conspires to drag the rest of the production down.

Well put OP. The music was crazy, and seemed to always be the wrong choice for the scene. A nice creepy low-key instrumental score would've improved this film no end, but I guess the director's girlfriend must be in some kind of awful rock band and he felt like he had to put it in.

I really hated that rock music, too. It took away from some more interesting and suspensful scenes. They should have left that solely for the ending credits.

The score was not original, in that nobody composed any music for this film, pieces of classic recordings were chosen and used. You can tell it's a little campy, but I actually feel there was a great variety of music, and you yourself noticed this as well: "feels like there's three different people responsible for scoring this film."

I liked the music. I remember being halfway through it, can't remember where, but hearing a very ethereal, strange piece of music, bells in it and perhaps a lyricless voice.

Actually, the music is different depending who was on screen. It added personality that I thought was genius. Even though I didn't care for the music all that much, it fit the movie well.

Like when Duke comes on we hear the creepy horn. Each scene was carefully thought out and excellently executed IMO. This is one of my favorite low budget horror films. I bought it the day it was released expecting nothing, but got the ride of my life.

I couldn't agree more. Theistic was utter garbage that was incredibly distracting and almost got me to turn the film off on tree different occasions.

Too bad. I wish I could re-score it.

i totally disagree, the music was good, you are just used to the typical hollywood way, it was refreshing and innovative. but the script was crap and nothing could save it.

i mostly will not be able to answer your reply, since marissa mayer hacked my email, no notification

"you are just used to the typical hollywood way"
That's your defense for the music? That I must only watch Hollywood films?

Pretty weak argument. Especially considering the music is the kind of crap you'd hear on "generic screaming emo" radio.
It was out of place, melodramatic, and embarrassing.

Hollywood weighs heavily on the Top 40 Greatest Turds of the Music Charts for their films.
This movie picked from the Bottom 40.
