Nader/LaDuke 2000

It's interesting that Winona LuDuke, his VP choice in the controversial 2000 election, does not appear in the film? Does anyone know if she chose not to be included?

I don't know, but I do know that she endorsed Kerry in '04, which makes me think that she's a fair-weather type of friend. I think Camejo, however, is currently on his campaign staff.

I mean, he did run as a Green in 2000, then split from the party, so I assume she stayed with the party.

But I thought that run was her only official association with the Green Party. Is she actually a Green, like Camejo is? And if she is, why endorse Kerry? I do respect all the work she's done for Native Americans, and as an environmentalist. But it seemed like in '04, nearly all of Nader's past supporters had turned their backs on him, and for his former VP candidate to do it too seemed awfully cold. I saw her speak once, and asked her at the Q&A session afterwards why she chose to endorse Kerry, and her answer was the same that everyone gave at the time- paraphrased, she basically said she felt that there was just too much at stake this time. I really can't help but feel that that's a b.s. line- when is there ever not a lot at stake in a presidential election?

Also, was it Nader's choice to split from the Greens, or did they force him to run as an Independent by waiting until the summer of '04 to choose a candidate?

reply

I'm pretty sure he split off, as some in the green party tried to nominate him in '04 and '08.
