alyssa and polly.. ..

i was kindof upset with alyssa bc she has these 2 beautiful kids and she seems to care more about the eating disorder. she has a beautiful home and she is beautiful herself! i wish her the best and hope that one day she will see herself as what she truly is....

polly, i felt like people almost treated her as a lost case which in really she wasnt! it seemed like in terms of gaining weight, she was the one making most progress. and then shelly and the other chick went and backstabbered her. it broke my heart when her mom was begging them to take her back.

You have to admit that we didn't see much of Alyssa with her kids, so we really don't know much about that. She might not have wanted them in the documentary and let's face it the show was about her and not her kids. I mean we got to see some of the other girls' relatives, but I don't think her kids know what kind of problems their mom has. Do the really need to know? But I agree with you and I hope she does well. I think she is beautiful.

I will not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
I will face my fear.
I will let it pass through me.

I think Polly was a bad influence on the girls, they were working together to decieve and that's not what the centre is about. It's about openess and not hiding yourself anymore and being honest with who you really are. Look how well Shelly did when Polly left. If anyone is to blame here it's the damn insurance companies....everytime someone left it was because their insurance ran out, not because they were ready to go. That was heartbreaking. Eating disorders seem like an addiction to me, just like an alcoholic, it's something you have to work at every single day. You need support and meetings, you can't just do it alone.

Everyone seemed intensely self-centered except Alissa. She talked about how very much and purely she loved her children. When she said she wanted to live for her children, I thought that was okay. Lots of women live for and through their young children. I was mad at the therapist who corrected her "no – live for YOU, not them".

It seems like ED’s reinforce each other and like a tragic thing to place them all together. Even though Alissa joined the army to lose weight, it’s probably one of the healthiest things she could have done. The other enlistees are just trying to survive, and you all get army rations, and you have to keep your strength up which means fluids and calories. The army is not going to give you a little dish of iceberg lettuce with no dressing.

Polly seemed to be stuck in middle school – sneaking cigarettes in the bathroom – sneaking out to get a forbidden tattoo – creating cliques.
