Question about dance

Would someone who knows the culture write about dance in the film, particularly the dance they do at the foot of the cross. What is the cultural significance that might not be clear to a Western audience? Is there a name or tradition for that dance?

reply

Wow! A reply 8 years later! Dance is used to express many emotions in African culture. The dance at the foot of the cross is a tradional protest dance, and was commonly done in protests against the Apartheid government. And is still being done to show anger against the current government's failure to help the poor. I am South African, BTW.
