Not sure about the shape of the sheets, but totally agree. I hate it when a movie has the characters just finish having sex, and the woman (or women) has the sheet neatly tucked just above her chest like she's wearing a strapless dress. Makes it look like they're trying to be modest in front of this person they were just totally naked and intimate with just moments prior. Even worse is when she's wearing a bra. Seriously?? You took off everything but the most constricting piece of clothing you had on? Even worse than that?? When they wake up in the morning and she's in a bra; so on top of everything she SLEPT in her bra too??
Maybe the director would have some lame excuse about trying to communicate how the characters are not fully comfortable with intimacy blah blah blah, but it's just so far from what would really happen, it always damages my suspension of disbelief. I've slept with women who had body issues, preferred the lights off during sex, etc. but they never made such a concerted effort to not reveal a nipple after we were finished.
As an American, I apologize for my puritanical culture. Thankfully there is a movement in indy film here that endeavors to show nudity in a casual manner, showing the naked body as just a part of life. It's when we stop making such a BIG DEAL over nudity (both glorifying and demonizing) that we will finally grow out of our perpetual adolescence.
