Why mexicans?

i'm from mexico, morelos, it's just beneath DF or mexico city where the game events occur and first i want to add that the city it's very similar to the real mexico city, the chapultepec park is just the same as in the game but my question is: why mexico?, what is nadja? and why couldn't the designers not specify the nacionality of the terrorists,

note: ontiberros is neither a mexican or a nicaragun last name

I just assumed it was some sort of internal rebellion. Like a faction of the Mexican Army making a grab for power.

Mexico is a gateway to the United States. In both Red Dawn and in real life (Napolean / England / Spain) all tried to launch attacks into the US from Mexico. Canada is Canada. We fear caribou more than the 33 million Canadians, plus we'd have Alaska behind them if they tried anything.

On the flip-side, Mexico is connected to Central America which continues to be a hot bed for insurgents, guilleras, etc ...

I never played the PC version but apparently the game designers produced numerous updates and locations ranging from the desert to snowy cliffs - so I'm sure they'll take the battle out of Mexico before you know it.

They probably chose Mexico b/c it's unlikely and borders the US. NAJSA is the North American Joint Security Agreement between the US, Canada, and Mexico. Just because they made the rebels in the game doesn't mean Mexicans are rebels. They need to give them a nationality because the game tells a story. Just like in 24, they need to be given an identity to be able to tell the story.

The general's name was Ontiveros.

Im sure there are political reasons as to why they chose Mexico but I would like to think they chose Mexico city because of the immense size of it and the resulting effect of a stunning and breath taking atmosphere to play the game in. Its obvious the game isnt trying to make a political statemnt so I think the game designers picked a city that would match the gritty feel they were striving for in the game. Mexico City looks phenominal in the game and I feel that if the game were anywhere else it wouldnt quite be as cool. :)

Well think about it. The NAJSA is an agreement between all north american countries to help police the borders. Being from South Texas I know how much Mexico would love that. So basically some people loyal to the "free for all lets all get to the states for a better life" way of thinking would rebel and that's what this is about. It's not picking on Mexico, but I seriously doubt Canada would rebel against this agreement.
