Book by David Smith

I believe David Smith wrote a book of his experiences at the time of, or shortly after, the convictions of Brady and Hindley. Does anybody know the title of this book and whether it is still in publication? If it is no longer in publication, who was the original publisher so I may get in touch with them for a copy?

I've read everything on Hindley & Brady but I never heard of David Smith writing a book. He did give an incredibly rare candid interview in a 3 part series about Hindley & Brady in 1999 called "The Moors Murders". He goes into a lot of detail in the interview but usually he is not known to court publicity as he has suffered abuse for years even though he was responsible for their arrests. The docu-drama is fascinating. Also check Wikipedia about Maureen Smith as David does not have a page.

Perhaps a family member asked for it to be closed as Maureen did have 3 sons & a daughter. Maureen was not involved except for making David Smith go to the police so perhaps her family just want it off the internet. I don't blame them.

Cheers for that i didnt realise she was dead,is the mother still alive?
if so i pity the women not only out living her 2 daughters but knowing she raised not only one off the worlds most evil women and actually sided with her over her innocent daughter.

Yes, Maureen died in 1980 from a brain haemorrhage. She had re-married & had a little girl called Sharon Scott by husband Bill Scott. Nellie (mother) Hindley divorced Myra's father & re-married & became Nellie Moulton around the time of the trial but is now a widow. She's still alive & living in a nursing home in Manchester.

I believe Nellie was interviewed many years ago but was still adamant that Myra didn't do the murders. When Hindley confessed in the 80's all her family were horrified & a lot of them changed their names because of attacks. I'm sure I read that Nellie changed her name too & stopped visiting Hindley.
I know a lot because I've read everything I can. I was about 5 when this happened & my parents told me not to go off with strange women, it really upset me about the children. I used to have nightmares about it when I was a kid.
