Just read that David Smith died June 2012 aged 64. Very sad. He was no saint as a younger man and did some shameful things but he also stopped Brady and Hindley from killing anyone else and the victims families wouldn't have been able to bury them if it wasn't for him. He didn't deserve to be terrorized and hounded for the rest of his life like he and Maureen were.

I quite agree. Have you read his book Witness? Heartbreaking story.

It is a good book. Very sad though. People can be so cruel.
