Barry van Dyke returns!!

I loved the show "Diagnosis Murder" and I am so excited that there will be a movie with him and his father!! Anyone else share this excitment?

Well...I guess I enjoyed Barry on Diagnosis murder also, but to me he is just a big guy who acted on a show. Must be a guy thing. But, yes, I am looking forward to the Van Dykes returning to TV in new material. I have enjoyed Dick VanDyke on TV since he portrayed Rob Petrie and especially liked D.M., throughout it's original run as well as the repeats. Looking on IMDB, I see that Nyby II is again at the helm so I entirely anticipate a quality series and what the Hallmark Channel website says about Murder 101 sounds like I will once again have a wonderfully entertaining show to watch. Dick Van Dyke as an absent minded professor... wow...what more could you ask for?

Somebody get the popcorn ready for Jan 7, 2006 at 9PM ET...okay???

DM is my favorite series. I am so glad that Hallmark picked it up, and I enjoyed the movie Murder 101 as well. But I prefer Doc Sloan.

I love both Barry and Dick! But I am so excited to see Barry on something, he's a good actor, who's never really been given a real shot.

Chase: Wow. Yeah, I get it. House is adorable. I just want to hold him and never let go.

I just watched Murder 101 and really enjoyed it. I like this one better than the Mystery Woman series.
altho very beautiful, the tall red-haired actress was WAY too laid back to be someone accused of blowing-up somebody. Like she was on something to calm her down...

Barry Van Dyke is great and I loved the relationship with his dad. It's so real. They don't try to ignore it for the cameras. I would like to see this Diane, his so-called fiancee, worked into the show.
But it is Dick Van Dyke who is the real joy! I loved their working absent-mindedness into the show. Leaving your keys on the table. We have all done that! But dropping your cell phone off a ten-story building, can't say I have done that! And him just appearing suddenly in the hotel room from the balcony, (10 stories up) and his reply to the question "how did you get in here?" was priceless...
My mom is his age and going thru absent-mindedness and I thought it was all so cute. I guess you have to have parents that age to really appreciate it.
Barry is in tip-top shape. I will be watching Murder 101 College Can be Murder.
In fact I have set up the dvr to tape it.

will this ever be shown on uk tv or even on dvd

I would love that, too! I live in Spain - so I'll probably never get to see it.

I'm very worried about Barry's Hair. For many years I've watched it change shape and colour (color) and I have a feeling he's wearing a piece. Has anyone else noticed his remarkable changes of hair colouring?

reply

I asked a similar question on another website. The reply I got was that Barry went grey VERY early (before 40) and started dying it for roles. As for the "shape", well, people do change hairstyles.

reply

Barry is in his late 50's (born 1951) and is a grandfather but tries to look younger for the roles he plays. Probably dyes his hair and might even wear a hairpiece.

reply

He doesn't look younger, just creepy. Nobody his age would have completely dark brown hair with no gray at all. When he was first on Diagnosis Murder, he had either gray or blonde hair and he looked good. Dye job is just creepy.
