I just wrote a supportive bit for this film on another thread. Of course, it's not a very good film, but it's an awful lot of fun! I like the outrageous notion of "healing" a crack in the moon! It reminded me of "Crack in the World" as a disaster on a grand scale. I'd match them up in a marathon, perhaps with "When Worlds Collide" for total destruction. "The Core" might be a great third film for a mini-marathon.
Anyway, I was so entertained by this film that, when I realized I couldn't remember the title, I went out of my way searching for it so that I could write it on my "Watch For" list in my movie journal. I found this an enjoyable way to spend two hours.
Many sci fi films are bad not because of their budget or the acting but because they're boring. The actors seem disinterested, and the director seems not to have bothered. I think that, if "Earthstorm" was shown more often, it could become a cult film, rather like the atrocious but funny "Pinata: Survival Island". Who knows but that years from now people will be desperately searching for a copy of it?! *giggle*
I'm with you: It's a good movie because it is entertaining and funny and has a novel premise.
