Bad movie?

You people that complain that this is a bad movie are pathetic. What do you expect from a low budget movie for a cable channel? Try watching the previews from now on. I knew going into this movie that it wasn't big screen material. I just can't seem to understand why any of you are surprised that it isn't a top notch sci-fi movie.

And I don't understand why people like you always haul out that non sequitur "surprise" argument to respond to valid criticism.

As I read the posts, I don't see much: "I was so surprised that this movie was dumb." Rather I see: "This movie is dumb because (insert any one of 4,891 valid reasons here)."

Also, I have enjoyed reading the snarky comments about Earthstorm here so much more than watching the movie. I did not expect much, but Earthstorm violated one of the fundamental rules of good bad movies - that it can't take itself seriously.

Oh, how I wish I could believe or understand that!

I wasn't expecting top-notch anything. I was expecting kinda funny C-grade sci-fi movie that I could watch while I painted.

This movie didn't even meet *that* expectation.
At the very least, I wanted some half decent acting. Decent acting, last I checked, is not budget dependent. I've seen 1950 B movie actors that could act circles around half the cast.

Thank god for Dirk Benedict and Richard Leacock. They actually brought some decent tension to this, but everyone else, ESPECIALLY Baldwin, was awful!

Umm excuse me sir, but there's a unicorn in my sci-fi.

I'm in the "bad as it was, it was par for course" camp, the course being low-budget made-for-TV sci-fi movies. With that understanding I rather enjoyed it.

For me the best part was Anna Silk's face lighting up the screen in every scene she was in. But I thought it was odd that she got billing on the box/poster over Amy Price-Francis who had a much larger role. Given this was several years before "Lost Girl".

BTW, I wonder if all the people who say/post "so-and-so can't act" can act themselves (or think they can act better). If that's so I guess we have many fine undiscovered actors posting here on IMDB :)
