Thor

I've never really read Avengers comics/novels which is why I watched "The Next Avengers" instead, rather than the Ultimate Avengers movies because I wouldn't have to know anything about the characters before hand.

My questions is can Thor fly(since Torunn can in Next Avengers)? I didn't think Asgardians had this power? What exactly are Thors abilities? I thought Asgardians were just a little bit stronger, more durable and age slower than humans?

Thanks.

Not being a dick, but go to wikipedia man. It is reliable when it comes to this kind of stuff, not much else though, lol.

You are on a computer and ask that question... the answer is right at your finger tips... I understand the idea to connect with humans and chat but when you have access to the answer to you question quicker than typing out the question--- it becomes trolling!
Not harsh words just so you realize why people behave they way do on boards with Q/A.

Thor can fly through the power of his hammer. It is not something Asgardians normally do.

reply

Most of Thor's powers come from his hammer Mjolnir. Its gives him the power to fly, plus to travel great distances instantly. He can also control lightning, but I believe that his power rather than from the hammer. It also varies a bit if your going from the "old school" Avengers, or the Ultimates series.

reply

Actually, it's not true that most of his power comes from the hammer.

He's a demigod, not a God.

reply

This is what makes Thor a supeerhero compared to his fellow Asgardians.

brb, he is a God, so he has unlimited powers, so why would he not be able to fly? I don't know the full extent of his powers, like I said he is a God, so he would have any powers that a God has, and he is Odin's son, that makes him very powerful.

Different variations of the character state him to be a god then sometimes he is a mortal being with a really extended life span.

reply

When they say he's a god, they don't literally mean he is on par with Jesus Christ, they're just referencing his dominion.

Gods can be weaker than even standard humans if it is written as such. God implies importance, not power.

And Thor cannot fly. He is stronger and more physically gifted than normal Asgardians. What he is doing when shooting through the air is literally throwing his hammer and holding on while it fires off in whatever direction. Sounds a little corny, but thats how it works, magic.
