Not funny for other countries.

I don't think brotown would be funny if I didn't live in New Zealand. The humour is so specific to the country America and other countries just would not get it like we do. Australia is probably the only other country that will get it without being offended.

I am Austrlian and i get the show. Given i am half New Zealander and have spent time growing up in there and so i understand some of the things that other countires would have no idea about. American wouldn't understand anything about it, and i reckon most Aussies would.

reply

Im Australian and i get it. I think the only problems is that other countries (not including Australia [lots of NZ's here]) is that they wont get the slang. Like 'owe'

reply

its not mauldi its "maori" and most people in NZ dont even find it funny and most NZers do....i think you would find it alot more funny if you were, like myself, a pacific islander or maori....

reply

I find it really funny and I am from Canada

reply

Hahaha defleppardfan10..it's not mauldi it's "maori" hahaha, I thought the same thing.

I think is funny, but it would be funnier if I just could get some jokes or lines that are so NZ. I´m from Mexico, and I get about 3/4 of all the jokes.

reply

I'm from Canada, and although a few things did have to be explained to me (mostly slang) I did get it, and I loved it. It's so funny. You just need to have an open mind more than anything.

I'm from the US and the cartoon was just shown here 3 months ago. I got the humor after learning about NZ and Polynesian culture but not too many people in the States know about the show. Probably because it's on LinkTV???

reply

I am from the USA and I think the Show is funny as hell!

I'm from Hawai`i and my prof actually introduced this show to us. Sadly, the boys' situation is similar to that of Hawaiians here, so I "got" most of the jokes and could figure out most of the slang. I'm glad someone can actually joke about stuff like that, because the only alternative is crying. I think the show is brilliant, much more heartfelt than most American cartoons, as much as I like them.

Amen to that! and I am an american

I'm an Aussie, (a 'wog' so to speak) and I loved this show when it was on SBS. I watched it religiously and often attempted impersonating all the characters at school!

The themes are totally relevant to Islanders, too. I guess most of them could relate to it. Albeit, in a tongue-in-cheek, light-hearted way..

reply

I'm from NZ, I agree with how we get heaps of American shows but I do like some of them but some I don't have a clue what they're referencing.
I like The Office US but I do agree that Thank God You're Here and Kath and Kim are very different to the Aussie versions...

But I LOVE Bro'Town, so crude it's hilarious. Peow Peow ;]

Im an aussie and I think the show is choice! Awesome show :D

I'm American and find it funny. I guess by your logic you get "Friends" because you're not from New York and don't understand "The Fifth Element" because you're not from the future.

reply

I'm American, and I liked it. Not as much as most American, Canadien, or Japanese adult animation, but still. 7.4/10. Almost 8/10.
