Near the start of the movie what was with the (it looked like nail polish remover :S)on the finger prints? Does it get rid of prints or something?
And towards the end, one of Kun's men i think, was wearing gloves and poured liquid onto his hand, what was it? Just water so he could get a grip of his weapon?
Also, why did Mr. So manually answered his calls like an answering machine? Someone please explain.

You misunderstood the scene in which Mr So answers his phone. In this scene you can hear the voice mail message and at the same time Mr So saying different words, something about loosing the phone. It only looks like (for the purpose of building the tension) Mr So is finally going to answer his phone, when in reality it was someone else that Mr So was telling about his phone being lost.
shareI think it was a nail enamel, when it dries it will be stiff and so no finger prints will be left anywhere. It might be something else, but I am pretty sure it was for his finger prints concealment.
As for the water, I have no idea.
