Old century adulter tales of the beautiful poverty stricken helpless lassie and her old fuddy duddy rich husband. Ugh! Unless she comes from an established family, no peasant girl would dare risk her good luck of luxury and comfort for sex with another peasant (unless forced to marry outside her will). Especially if that peasant girl is an orphan. Most made sure they got pregnant as soon as possible if the old rich man didn't have children or heir had died prematurely. That would solidify her portions of his riches thru the legitimate heir when he dies before her (because he's old and she's young, it'll happen). Most of these sorry stories are illogical because they ignore the fact that most humans choose security over risk. And running away from old man money to be with a penniless painter is fantasy. Even women from established families wouldn't abandoned old money bags to be with the painter
