Why would people not like this movie?

SPOILER ALERT

Why would people not like this movie? Maybe b/c it is crap.

Wow, what a twist ending. He didn't really kill the girl; oh wait, two minutes later we find out he really did--and we (I) expected that he killed the girl the entire movie...Turns out we were right.

No weirdo like Mason would actually be friends with "normal" people. I'm a dork, too, but people don't just come up to weirdos and push conversation on people who don't conversate in return (unless they are trying to make fun of that person or are treating that person as a charity case--which Amber never really intended to do to Mason). The whole romance was forced and unrealistic. Sure, Mason might have done romantic things, but his weirdness would've never let him get that far with a real woman.

His awkwardness aggravated me during the entire movie. Why was Berkeley friends with him? Even if they were friends from childhood, Berkeley seemed too much of a jerk to continue the friendship...This actually made Berkelely interesting to me (his jerk-ness vs. his compassion), but I wish they would've explained it more than they did. And if Berkeley knew/thought Mason was inventing the women in his sketchbooks, why would he give him a new sketchbook and then later be surprised that Mason was prolonging his "fantasies" and chastize him for making up a new woman?

the character's awkwardness got to me too. i was like "you're just too slow to watch!" or "just answer the d*%!$d question already!" he wore the dumbest expression on his face. in real life, you're right, no one would waste 2 seconds of time of this weirdo. they'd know him for who he was from the get go

Because the movie is terrible all the way. Just Terrible!!! Plain and simple.

Only good thing was the actress Amber. What a talent she has.

Yes, it would take quite the "film fanatic" to sit through this entire movie. But once you do, you're forced to go back and immediately rewatch it, because now all kind of questions pop up. Like "Why did the friend/boss give Mason another sketch pad?". Well, probably because he knows from past experiences that when Mason starts "acting up" (making late-night phone calls, coming into work late, freaking out), the best thing to do is to buy Mason a sketch book. Then Mason will invent "the nice waitress" or "the Spanish lady" and be a calm guy and a good worker for 6 months (or whatever). My only question is this - the opening scene, with Mason calling Berkeley in the middle of the night, freaking out, saying "Should I call the police?"... it just makes you wonder how many times Mason's done this before, and if Berkeley just thought to himself, "Yes, i know what's next, he'll show up at work tomorrow freaking out with red paint on his hands, oh well, I'll tell him AGAIN how I got rid of the body or whatever. Back to sleep for me..."
