Any new about the movie?

Being a fan of James Marsters I'm interested in anything he does, especially a movie. I've heard some things about it like it's going straight to DVD and then it's going to the theaters as a feature film. Does anyone know anything new? I'm all ears!!!

reply

All I've heard lately, is that he's done filming it.

As for the straight to DVD, there seems to be some doubt as to
that, so keep your fingers crossed that it might actually go
to the big screen.

That's fine with me, but my selfish side would love to see it
sooner, which would be DVD.

Basically, I'm happy that he got paid, and got home with only
a sore neck. :)

I would love for it to be a big screen movie but I just want to see James act again.

Also, the guy who plays Candyman is in. Sorry don't know his real name.

reply

His name is Tony Todd. I saw him on Stargate 1 tonight. He is a good actor. Has a theater background like James does. He is most known for his horror film "Candyman".

I've got another link which tells a bit more of the film and the actors performance on it. The link is a long one so make sure you copy and paste all of it.

Here's an link that shows some photos of the movie. A nice photo of James and Jolene Blalock and Tony Todd.

James has a habit of not discussing his work, whether movie or TV, until it's a done deal. That's why, I think, there is no mention of it in his bio or elsewhere. He has also done two independent movies besides "House on Haunted Hill". One is called, "Winding Roads" and the other is called, "Chances" with a Buffy and Angel costars, Amber Benson and Andy Hallent.

Just thought I'd mention that including the other things they have in common, Tony Todd and James Marsters have both been on Smallville. Even if Tony was just on there while I have heard James is going to be back or is back this season?

reply

If I'm understanding your last sentence correctly, I'm guessing you're curious about whether or not James will be returning to Smallville. I know that for the current season, he did a 10 episode guest starring role. As far as I know, there are couple more of his appearances to go, but I could have counted wrong. I have heard rumors circulating around the 'net that the Smallville big-wigs are considering to ask James to return next season. Whether that's for one episode or half a season, it's unclear. But, like I said, it's all rumors... we can only hope they are true!!

If it goes to the screens it will undoubably be very limited release, besides James there is no real star power behind the movie. And lets be honest while most of us love James in any role, he is not a big enough name to carry the picture without a big name main studio behind the film. Will it come out on DVD, yes. Probably late spring early summer, but a lot of video stores might not carry it since it is not a big movie. Try requesting it once it comes out to see if your video store will buy it, otherwise happy hunting to find it to buy on the net.
"Official Guardian Killer!" "Down with James' Guardians, to heck with them!"

wide-release... or limited-release... it is not so important, it is nice that some people will have got chance to see James Marsters in cinema... - his fans.

Fangoria, the horror magazine, had a one-line blurb on Shadow Puppets. It said that the movie starred Tony Todd and co-starred James Marsters and Jolene Blaylock.Hopefully they'll have more on it in the upcoming issues.
As for straight-to-DVD or national release,it really doesn't matter to me.I'll see it either way<g>.

Oh good...my dog found the chainsaw!

Jolene Blalock? Tony Todd? These two don't get equal billing with James Marsters? Don't get me wrong, I love JM, but I think Jolene & Tony are easily as big as James. Especially Tony, who has face recognition from several movies, and plenty of tv appearances.

reply

i only know tony todd from an angel episode. this could be intresting

Read the script, saw a lot of the filming. It's a really cool script concept. Not really AT ALL like SAW II. All three of the actors mentioned are really good. Esp J.M. and J.B. Very professional, kind and hard working. Definately keep an eye out for it.

reply

I don't know Tony Todd or Jolene Blalock, but Marsters is incredible.

reply

I think all three of them have the potential to take any material and make it seem better. So,if the script is good,I expect this could be a very entertaining film. Hooe they get a trailer up for it soon.

reply

James Marsters is in it, so it'll be great. :)

reply

James is in it, must watch. *Drools* the plot sounds kinda cool to!

from Tony Todd's Official webpage:

Tony Todd talking about "Shadow Puppets"

I really like the film. James Marsters and I became good friends. Rest of the cast is extremely flexible. It was fun. One the most extended, cast and crew, final applause, I've ever had. We had a strange two days, at "Loma Vista", a deserted insane asylum just off the Boyle st. Bridge. six accidents in 48 hours, from heart plapatations, scratched cornea's, Electrician being shocked, whiplash, and our script supervisor fell and broke her foot. But overall everyone was committed, or should've been."

Aww,I knew James and Tony would bond...2 old theater rats like that.

When this movie will be in cinema?

reply

They will have this movie ready to be sold for distribution by May. No one knows how long it will take them to get the right deal together but I would guess we will see this late summer, early fall of 2006.

While loving James as well, TV Guide says it is going straight to DVD. Was hoping to show my support by going to see it at the theater, I'll just buy it when it comes out. Hate that they changed the billing thought, and took top away from James.

reply

TV Guide's Mike Ausiello has it wrong. The people who made the film say that it won't be ready for distribution until May and then they are going to see what they can work out but that they still hope for a big screen release.

Nobody changed anything. If you are referring to the Fangoria article, they mention Tony Todd first because it is a horror film site and he has made horror films before. Just wait till the movie comes out.You do not know what the billing will be until then.
