Donal Logue's accent

what the *beep* was that all about? I honestly waited for 5 minutes when he first came on screen, hoping for them to reveal he was joking.
literally the worst english accent I have ever seen in a film. Thats right, worse than Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins.
What makes it unbelievable too is there is literally no reason for him to be English. No reference is made in the whole film to the fact he is English.Which makes me think that logue came up with it on his own, after the script was written, cos he thought it'd be fun.
Other than that, I enjoyed the movie. Always like Ed Burns' stuff.

I just watched this movie and HELLO!! Donal Logue's performance was [as usual] great. The movie over all was not so great because all the characters did was yell and cuss at each other [boring].

reply

Agree - pointless. I like Logal as an actor in everything he has done. Why the accent? Distracted from the movie.

I don't mind the swearing at all. That *beep* keeps it real.

reply

His english accent was horrible!

reply

While I will concede that Logue's accent was a disgrace, it was by no means the worse I have ever heard.

That honor goes to Donald Sutherland, who by any other measure is a fantastic actor (except he should stay away from accents).

The worst accents in movies
Richard Gere - The Jackal- worst Irish accent
Harrison Ford- ( submarine movie) worst Russian accent ever!!!

reply

Definitely a distraction, and a pointless one at that. No idea why they did that, unless there were some deleted scenes where him being English came up.

reply

His character was a professor at Oxford.
