No wonder it went nowhere

I think the greatest sin of the filmmakers was how they tried to turn the movie into a Blood and Sand remake. Before he died, Manolete looked great. Even masterfully defeated his first bull that day. They have Manolete drinking, getting reckless, and looking in the stands for Lupe at the time of his death. They made Manolete out to be Juan Gallardo from Blood and Sand. They made it look as if he was depressed and thinking about nothing except Lupe before he died. They even had the nerve to show him visualizing the last time he had sex with Lupe during his last fight. They have everyone expecting him to get killed. Manolete was killed out of nowhere. The day he died no one was expecting him to die. It was a shock that came out of nowhere. It wasn't a case of Manolete not caring anymore and getting himself killed. They even make it look like Manolete was trying to get killed. According to the filmmakers, Lupe leaving Manolete is what killed him. Even on his deathbed they have him thinking about Lupe and crying. It was a disgrace. If you watch this movie, it doesn't do much for Manolete. He doesn't come across likable at all. There's not much to him according to this movie. This movie was a disgrace. The only good thing was how much Mr. Brody resembled the real man. I loved the scenes of Brody bullfighting. He looked like Manolete out there. But it was ruined by a lousy script and horrible performances. Especially by, I'm sorry to say, Brody, who couldn't even speak with a Spanish accent. He just sounded like, well... Adrien Brody. Half the time you can't even understand what he's saying. I heard Tom Cruise stuck with his American accent in Valkyrie after his German accent sounded so terrible. Maybe that was the case with Brody.

I couldn't agree with you more. The movie, is slow, boring, lack of dialog. I was expecting to see some flamenco dancers, music, fun life, etc. I wanted to leave the theater within the first 15 mins.
