I really don't get the way they hold these films out for so long.

You wonder if a good business model in the future for releasing indie and international films in the U.S. is to take a iTunes model, or maybe even Netflix model into the theater, although that would probably be complicated, but it's an interesting idea to me.

The amount of time we have to wait for these things to be released in the U.S. is ridiculous. Sometimes we have to wait years just for a DVD release.


To's work is more accessible to American audiences because of the genre. It won't make the kind of money that English language films of this type do, but I think he could reach a larger audience of it was put in a situation where they can compete.

With Hollywood not doing a good job of providing dedicated movie going, adult, audiences with choices throughout the year, especially during the summer, and "lull" months where they usually dump a lot of garbage you have to wonder what's going on. Now, the word out is that they are going to be making more slap stick, dumb comedies, etc. I mean look at the releases of late.

Many big hyped projects are falling flat, and with Hollywood execs interfering with the creative process you know this will always be a risk, even with well regarded directors, writers and cast members. This is more reason why international and real indie films can sneak in for those who are starved for films that suit their tastes throughout the year.
