Sooo bad

This show is the epitamy of unfunny. It's as if it's been written by a six-year-old. What the hell has the world come to? Is the general public so stupid?

reply

Sorry, what exactly didn't you like about it?

Come for me when the fiery ball weighs heavy in the sky.

I think it's a lot funnier than the rest of the comedy shows around at the moment - I'd rather watch this than Little Britain or Catherine Tate. It's a bit samey sometimes but at least it doesn't pander to all of those unintelligent people who think Ricky Gervais is hilarious simply because he can string a sentence together.

So there.

I partially agree with you on little britain and catherine tate. The jokes and settings are sometimes very mundane. But Ricky Gervais?! What do you mean by "hilarious because he can string a sentence together"? They (Gervais and Stephen Merchant) have written two groundbreaking comedy shows with a completely new style ! Have you seen extras?

reply

oops... think I hit a nerve!

Yes, I have seen Extras and although there are amusing bits, Ricky Gervais is the worst thing about it. I can't stand his stand up. Really. I'd pay not to go and see him. I just don't find him funny - the jokes are all predictable and he's contradictory.

In Politics he makes fun of Philosophy students for wearing berets like Che Guavera, then he goes and dresses up like him! That'd be like Dylan Moran dressing up like an annoying book shop customer in Black Books .

Again, comedy is all down to personal interpretation and preference. I just think that all three TV shows - Little Britain, Catherine Tate and The Office/anything with Ricky Gervais are one trick ponies. But that's simply my opinion.

Hi potmeetskettle,

Where did you catch the programme? BBC2? I haven't seen it for ages on BBC3, but I saw the first episode again last night. It's not great, but I think the characters are a lot more original than in most comedies at the moment.

Although, after watching the rest of the series, it did get a bit repetitive!!

Thanks for getting back to the topic though!

What does your sig mean? I think I can recognise night and day...

reply

What programme?

You mean, the one-off recording of his stand up? You sound like you've understood it really well...

You're going to proclaim [sic] your an idiot whatever I say.

Why don't you carry the burden of truth and explain to me why it's clever of Ricky Gervais to make fun of Philosophy students who want to look like Che at 18, and then actually dress up as Che 20 years later himself?

well i think it shows that you have no sence of humour if you find Ricky Gervais funny and Man Stroke Woman unfunny

reply

I'll defend it on the grounds that there are some gems on Man Stroke Woman

reply

I think it's a great show, it takes tiny things out of reality, and blows them way out of proportion, Such as the scene saying 'you can never just say I look nice, can you', is simply taking the fact that women always have to be reassured about their appearance and then they blow it way out of proportion lol. Or where the man keeps mistaking Josh for other items, taking the idea that men aren't as good with children. There are many genius moments on Man Stroke Woman, and I was so chuffed when it made it onto BBC 2, after watching it on BBC3 as I thought it definately deserved it. Best new sketch show there has been since the introduction of Little Britain in my opinion. Still doesn't beat channel 4 comedy though such as Green Wing or Peep Show lol :).

I just watched this for the first time tonight, and i never laughed once. it never even raised a small chuckle. Everything about it just looked forced.

If you couldn't raise one chuckle then you must be incredibly uncomfortable to be around and you probably don't even know it. Even if you don't like it, it is a funny show, try to relax a little..you'll live longer.

Sunshine-Best Sci-Fi movie since Alien.

The sketch where the bloke who looks like one of the Chuckle Brothers feels his neighbour's breasts for 200 quid - that's a variation on an urban myth that's been knocking around for 20+ years.

And that's the funniest thing in the whole series.

Mushy mindbalm for dim proles.

Check the writers. See any women listed? So make that a rather skewered version of reality blown "way out of proportion".

Overall a dull show riding on the coattails of The Office.

Of course, a sketch show! Riding on the 'coattails' of the Office!

You're a genius!

Sayonara, not to be confused with cyanide, which is, of course, goodbye in any language.

It'sssssss soooooooooooooo GOOOD.

reply

It's got some really funny bits in it and it's alright to watch if there's nothing amazing on, but I wouldn't dash out and buy it on DVD. It is better than Little Britan and Catherine Tate though, as others have said, although I can't fooking stand catchphrases in general (Tyres's 'you lucky people!' from Spaced being an exception) and the 'you can never just say I look nice, can you?' stuff irritates me.

I <i>love</i> the Office though, it's my favourite show ever so we've probably got like different tastes or something.

thank you, at least omeone agree's with me. this, gervis and green wing are now seen as great sketch/stand up/sitcoms. a few years ago it was fast show, george carlin and drop the dead donkey.

This show is very clever, abstract and so out of left field most of the time it's freaking hilarious. The actors really pull it all together with all the funny facial expressions. If you can't appreciate funny right in front of you, then maybe your the problem?
