F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon)

It may have started out that way...if you notice a very washed out sign on the wall of the control room it seems to state FEAR SECURITY. As far as other similar elements:

From Wikipedia

"The main source of the game's horror is Alma, a ghostly little girl. Craig Hubbard remarked that "a guy in a mask chasing co-eds with a meat cleaver can be scary, but on some level you're thinking to yourself you could probably kick his ass if you got the drop on him ... but when a spooky little girl takes out an entire Delta Force squad, how are you supposed to deal with that?" While Alma has been compared to the character Samara from The Ring, Craig Hubbard stated that she "was born out of a tradition of eerie, faceless female ghosts" and not "as an answer to any specific movie character". Hubbard acknowledged that Alma "admittedly bears some visual resemblance to the ghosts in Dark Water or Séance", but "creepy little girls have been freaking [him] out since The Shining".

Perhaps it was meant to be a game movie, like Resident Evil which it shares way too much in atmosphere, but they lost the rights... As I watched it I was confused why Mia was able to do her ring "shift" thing while she was locked in the freezer. Using this theory it might make sense, "Quick, change the script just enough that no one will sue us".

yep. while watching the movie in progress, the same exact thoughts came to my mind: F.E.A.R. - the video game.

I guess they couldn't come up with anything on the storyboard, so they decided to do something very similar like how it is in the game's plot.

Completely agree man.

I saw part of this on TV, and as soon as they descended into an underground facility where one of the researcher's supernatural daughter is contained (and woefully released), I thought of F.E.A.R. When I saw the sudden flashes of images and sound when Mya is around, I thought of F.E.A.R. Even the company's logo in the movie is quite similar to Armachan's.

... obviously don't have one of the logo from Warrior's of Terra... but it was similar enough to make me notice it.

Maybe an homage, but just reeks of ripoff to me.
