How can they premier this in Vatican...


And early screen in front of hundreds of Jesuit priest without offending their sensibilities?

This movie clearly depicts that the first Jesuits were wrong and they failed. Padre Rodrigues was basically living like an Atheist in a religious country (where atheism is punisable by law). Hessitatingly renounce his views and reluctantly adopt local religious rites, only doing it because of safety (for him and everybody else).

Have modern Catholics already accepted "irreligious believer" that practice Christianity only in silence (never showing it in public and even clearly denouncing it in public)?

For if you practice your religion only in silence than it's also means distancing religion from politics. Is this what the Catholics becoming?

If so, I'm glad for them and wish this is the way every other religion (and atheism) would take. Religion of the heart.
