Adam Sandler should do more drama..

This is one of my favorite movies and one of the reasons that I like it as much as I do is that Adam Sandler gives an absolute superb performance.
Having seen "Funny People" -a big dissapointment- lately, I can't help wishing that he should consider choosing more "dramatic" roles, because he did a fantastic job in Reign over Me!

I like his Serious & Comedy movies.Adam should do more serious movies but his comedies are funny too.

I agree.

I've got to agree with you all. I know it's not a nice thing to say but I never really regarded him as a serious actor, I love his comedies but since they are all quite similar roles I never appreciated what skill he had. After watching this film I was completely blown away, he was fantastic. I would love to see him do more serious films.

I've pretty well hated his roles in his out'n'out comedies (Happy Gilmore, Waterboy), but his performance in this and Punch Drunk Love make for two really very good films indeed - I'd actually buy the DVD.

He's not a great actor but for some reason his dramas are always really good and usually even touching.

I do not like Adam in any of his comedies because he
always always plays a loser dork. I just cannot stand
the man, not even in the somewhat good Anger Management.

But with this movie, Adam has shown that he can really act,
not just play some fool in a nobrainer movie.

Reign over me is, with "bullet proof", my favorite Sandler movie.

I want more serious movies with Sandler.

Movies like this would have help his career, but too bad he want to take the wrong path and continue to be in more unfunny stupid comedies.

I have always thought that he could be a great actor. This proves it.

I do agree with you about that he should do more dramas but I did really like Funny People

He should stick to comedies

I agree. I think that being a family man has made him want to do things that his kids might enjoy.

He's good in dramatic roles, and his in between stuff is pretty good.

I think he also likes being the creative lead as well.

Totally agree with you. I really like Funny People, though, specifically because it was more dramatic than funny. It was just incorrectly advertised as a comedy, IMO.

I've said this for years, too. He was fantastic in this movie. Sandler is way better in dramatic roles than he's ever been in comedies.

Seems like he has a couple of dramedies within the next year, though, with The Cobbler (by Thomas McCarthy) and Men, Women and Children (by Jason Reitman). I'm looking forward to them.
