I feel for the black women in the US...

because so many of the successful black men DO end up pursuing white women. It seems like many attribute it to the 'status thing,' but I'm not sure (???). And then to be OVERWEIGHT and BLACK, like in this movie, and having to compete with ALL women, black or white, who are thinner and more attractive?? Ugh, I think it's sad (and black men over all other men sure seem to be more shallow in this way, though I could be wrong). Though I'm hardly an Obama fan, I think it's nice that he married a successful black woman - though the way in which and who he started identifying with, starting in his college years, I don't see how he COULD'VE ended up with a white woman.

And on top of ALL of that, a higher % of black men are in jail at some point in their lives, have a parole officer, and sadly, die of homicide in rates that are perhaps 10 fold to that of Caucasian men (which makes it even harder for black women to find suitable black men to marry). And though there are some white men who go for pretty and successful black women, it's not that common. Personally, I've only been attracted to 1-2 black men in my 42 years (it's not a 'race' thing, just a preference thing that I can't help). Anyway, I didn't think I'd like this movie at all, but I usually don't think about these type of struggles that black women face and it was an eye-opener.

This is hardly the forum to pour out your frustration and prejudice, etc. This forum is for comments on a stupid movie.
Go see a psychiatrist now!
