Wow, just wow... (ps3 been out for many years) :)
But if you look into it, definitely some similarities there. Without too many spoilers, alternate reality ww1/2 era earth, mysterious enemy threat created by mutating humanity, originating from the ancient past, threat developing in eurasia and spreading worldwide yeah, I can see the reference.

He was making a joke. But no, it wasnt really Resistance. This was Dead Space Necromorph all over the place. Super mutants from dead people, yup. Aliens did it, yup. They get impaling arms, yup.

Except that the "Mutants" in this movie weren't turning dead people into monsters. They were very specifically dragging live soldiers back to the Machine. (In Resistance, living human soldiers are knocked out, dragged back to the Chimera base and mutated into monster soldiers.)

Midway through Resistance, it's revealed that the Chimera structures were actually excavated, rather than newly built. So we have a WWII dieselpunk setting where an ancient base capable of turning living human soldiers into monsters is unconvered.

But you're right, the hand blades are totally Dead Space. The baddies in Resistance use high tech guns.
