To anyone who did not like it

I'm seeing lots of comments about this film's content, that its vile, disturbing, it made people mad, and so on.

Now if you just didn't like the film or thought the acting was sub-par, this is understandable, but if you didn't like the film for its content, if it upset you, I would say the film did its job. That's precisely what it was supposed to do. This isn't some gory Hollywood flick where the villain spends 2 hours torturing people, its a film with a fictionalized account of some very real problems. Child sex trafficking, child prostitution, inner-city decay, poverty, and so on. Just look at Rotherham (I'm American, but that scandal made worldwide news). Who knows how many Kelly's and Joanne's there are out there right now. I don't necessarily think this film was trying to make any particular statement, but it only portrayed the kind of vile, mind-boggling crimes most people would rather not deal with. Therefore, you should be disturbed. My heart was pounding the last 20 or so minutes, and I found some parts hard to watch. But that's the point, and I think some should really think about the film in that context before dismissing it for its content.
