Pleasently surprised

I was truly not expecting anything from this movie... In fact, I had never heard of it and I worked in video stores when this came out. I stumbled across it in my roommates collection and decided to give it a shot fully expecting it to be awful or at best, Deuce Bigalow good (a few cheap laughs that satisfy). This move was seriously fun to watch. Is it a multiple viewing movie.... maybe but so far better than "The Animal" or "The hot chick" that I don't understand why this was shelved and those went to the theatres. The fight in the yard scene was really impressive considering who was doing it and the comedy was just light enough to make you really enjoy it without crying bulls--t.

A good cast in a cute movie... not to shabby for Schneider.

I never heard of this movie either, and the cover of the DVD didn't really appeal to me either, but Rob Schneider is hysterical most times, so I gave this a shot and seriously....this thing made me laugh out loud from start to finish. HUGE suprise movie for a rental...this is probably the funniest movie I've seen since The Hangover.

WAY better than hot chick and Animal...and Duece Bigalo 2...maybe even the first too. David Caradine is funny too as the ultimate badass.

To me, this movie was like The Hammer. Straight to video, but freaking awesome and definitely will have to repeat view this with some friends.

"The Hebrew Hammer"? Because that was one funny movie. Totally surprised me with how much fun that was... kind of like "Undercover Brother". Neil Patrick Harris was so damn good in that one and the white she devil/sista solja fight was classic non stop falling down funny.

I was pleasantly surprised, too. Well-crafted (set-up for every pay-off and vice-versa, etc.), moderately humorous with several big belly-laugh sequences. It seems to have gone straight to video, which surprised me, too. Ihaven't followed most of Rob Schneider's film career but I've heard of his movies and this one I hadn't even heard of. Too bad it's not better known. I was also impressed by Schneider's training for this movie. He's surprsingly good in the fight scenes, which are pretty well staged.

^Lmao, I have Undercover Brother on dvd, that movie is hillarious. Niel's so funny, and so is Conspiracy brother (Dave Chappelle was perfect as him).

I wasn't expecting much from this film but i saw Rob Schneider come on an Australian talk show and he was talking about what the movie was about. He talked about getting a tattoo for his butt to make him unrapeable, and after i heard that, i had to see the movie. Even if it was bad, that scene had to be funny. But it had a lot more jokes than i was expecting, and a decent plot too with good pacing IMO.

Agreed - this was a much better movie than the Rob Schneider films that got wide release like The Animal and Deuce Bigalow 2.

I too had never heard of this movie so when a friend asked me if I wanted to watch it, I said "Sure." Then I saw Schneider's name in the credits and thought, "This movie is going to be crap."

But, surprisingly, I enjoyed it. Completely unrealistic...but then again beleivable in the world of Hollywood.

I surprisingly enjoyed it too. "Just because he was a drug dealer doesn't mean he should get raped for the next to 5 to 10 years"

Well said, all the posters above this one. It was extremely well crafted and presented. Top marks.

I miss Big Band music and talented singers. Leonard Cohen is my idol. Civility, harmony, unity!

It was surprisingly good. I never expect much with Schneider films or the actor himself. He really played a range in this film, plus, I didn't see a stunt guy doing his martial arts moves. I like it when I expect nothing and get surprised.

Very good comedy. I think I'd rate Rob's movies

1. Big Stan
2. The Hot Chick
3. Deuce Bigalow Male Gigolo
4. The Chosen One

and he cowrote all of those four (the rewriting on Big Stan was uncredited).
