Don't bother

This was a complete waste of time. There was almost no background on any of the characters nor any reason to explain why they all wanted her. The killer was stereotypical and so was the ending, unfortunately.

The killer concept was actually pretty different from most teen slasher flicks.

Yes - it's a simple film, but seriously, what did you need? The characters who got killed were the school douchebags. In the beginning the film set it up with one simple sentence from the king douchebag - "Someone got *beep* hot this summer." That's all you needed, and all that the film was about.

I dated a "Mandy Lane" in high school (minus the psycho part, thankfully). It's simple. She was likely a brainy, but not so cute girl her sophomore year, then she got very attractive over a summer, then all the horny boys dug her, and the girls accepted her. That kind of thing happens all the time - from there, the story was very easy to get, and I'm not sure I see what film stereotype you're talking about in the end, considering you don't get the stereotype they used to set up the whole film.

It's not like it's a common horror movie ending, after all.

The ending certainly wasn't commonplace. Nor was the identity of the killer (the final reveal). They subverted the typical expectation we have of "the final girl".
