Which one is better?

These are very different type of movies.
Although in both you can see mentally disturbed characters.

Is The Ward worth watching? I almost rented it just because I liked Amber Heard in this movie, but it got some pretty crappy reviews. The other half of me though almost wants to disregard them because it IS John Carpenter after all, and although he's made some mediocre films, he will always be the director of Halloween, and for that reason alone I can't get too angry about any of his shortcomings.

Don't ever go by reviews. Watch it then read about it. In my opinion I usually disagree.

I think the Ward was a better movie, but still not that great of a movie. Both movies are pretty predictable. The major "twists' in both weren't that surprising. The Ward had more "jump scares" in it, and more interesting characters, though. I'd give The Ward 3/5 and this movie a 2.5/5

This and it's not even close. The Ward's ending was horrible

Agreed. Mandy Lane was light years better than The Ward.

This, but it's close. I didn't like The Ward very much, and this was just barely passable.
