Finally getting a release...

I just got a copy of the Entertainment Weekly summer movie preview issue and it has All The Boys love Mandy lane listed as opening on August 30 in the US/Canada. I'm sure most of you have already seen it by now but I thought I would post it here for the people who have been waiting forever to finally see it.

Made in 2006 but not getting a release until Sept 8 2013? WOW, I believe I would have cut my losses and release it straight to dvd in the states(other than Blu Ray) and been done with it, by now. NO ONE will go to see this in theaters.

Not true. I believe Taken was released in US theaters a full year or so after its international release and after it leaked online. It was still a huge hit.

I dont know I think that is fairly normal. I saw a leak of it a year before it came out and that is only because it was short time. The other thing is that the first Taken was extremely good and refreshing on your usual action movies.

This is just a standard horror movie. Not that good of one either. So unless they refactored something this just seems like a bad move.

It wasn't anywhere near a year, it was a few months though if memory serves me well.

People still use DVDs??

Nice personal attack for no reason. I don't use DVD's. I use media streamer devices (Western Digital or Apple TV for instance). So why is it 'stupid' to say that DVD's are obsolete? They are. They came out in the late 90's. There's Blu-Ray now and even it is obsolete considering the streaming. So apparently you are the stupid one, matthank-1.

reply

That's you. You don't represent everyone.
Many people still use VHS, believe it or not. Just because they don't make VHS tapes anymore doesn't mean people don't use them still. They still sell VHS/DVD player combos at the store. Any facility that houses people with a limited budget have VHS players and tapes in their media room. Think day care centers, retirement homes, homeless shelters, group teen homes, schools, and mental hospitals. Many kids rely on VHS tapes as their entertainment in low income areas.

Not everyone is living the good life where DVDs are laughable. So for someone to get upset about someone saying such a thing probably reflects their understanding and compassion for people who don't have the same opportunities as someone like you.

And it's callous how some of you tech savy people are so ready to crap on what other people have. DVDs are still being made, so they are not obsolete obviously. For something to be obsolete it must be no longer produced and used. Blurays still sell quite well considering so many people can't afford to buy them, as half of America is in poverty. So maybe they will buy the dvds for $3/$5 each at Big Lots. The majority of stock at my local Fry's is still DVDs compared to blurays, especially when you count tv show box sets.

But my overall point is it's far more rude to smother your good fortune in others' faces than to call someone stupid for having the nerve to do that. Don't you notice the suffering around you? Kids are going hungry in America every day. So maybe instead of bragging about what you have, you can donate to your local food bank or maybe just donate your "obsolete" dvds and dvd player, so that some people can enjoy them and finally retire their VCR.

On neighborhood clean up days in wealthy areas, the poor come in in their "obsolete" trucks and vans and they take that stuff you think is garbage. They take it home and they work with what they can get. And amazingly not all those people have streaming membership services, the new apple tv, or internet at all.

I still have DVDs too, but you might be overreacting a little bit. . .

I got this movie years ago(on DVD) by ordering it from the UK where it's long been available on DVD as long as you know how to get around the "region" crap. It is funny how it's only now being released in the theaters. But since all the horror movies are remakes these days, they could just call it a remake.
