Favourite Part?

What was your favourite part in WWM?

The Carboniferous all the way.

War is simply the continuing of diplomacy through other means

reply

Yeah that was probably THE best episode or part. The giant spiders, the giant millipede, the giant dragonfly, and the killer amphibian where awesome. I was speechless when the giant millipede was impaled.

reply

I didn't really like that shot; the Arthropleura's movements looked a bit unrealistic.

I thought that was the highlight of the Carboniferous episode. Even if you think the movements were unrealistic you have to admit that was a cool part to come up with for a documentary-I would never of think to do that.

reply

Yeah, it was a nice finding. Upon second viewing, I have to say it looks better than I remembered.

The second episode (with Cephalaspis and the giant sea scorpions) I thought was very well done-esspecially the music.

reply

That was the first episode.

reply

No actually the first episode was the really short one about Anomalocaris.

reply

But after that they continued to the Silurian with Cephalaspis, which was still the first episode. Unless you consider each covered time segment to be an episode, which you are apparently doing.

I see your point, however I count all the time zones different episodes/parts.

reply

Ah, okay.

My favourite bit was where the sail-back chases through the other sail-backs! I love the fast paced music! I really liked how they did the ending as well. We see all sorts of shots from the first WWD series. It made me think "so this is where it started" although I wasn't really expecting that.

reply

Yeah, it was really cool how they ended with the Euparkeria morphing into an Allosaurus and the shots from Walking With Dinosaurs. Really makes you think "the circle is complete", ya know?

I'd like the Dimetrodon chasing the Edaphosaurus group. Very good music and a bit hilarious movement of the crested carnivore.

One of my favorite parts was when the Mesothelae was chasing the Petrolacosaurus.

I really loved the Dimetrodons.

BTW: does anyone know the names of the amphibians in the second episode? They're not mentioned, they're just called amphibians. Was the one in the Carboniferous period Eryops by any chance?

reply

According to BBC's The Complete Guide to Prehistoric Life the Carboniferous ones were Proterogyrinus and the Permian ones were Seymouria, although these were actually reptiliomorphs. The book identifies them as such, I guess they didn't have time to explain the concept of reptiliomorphs in WWM, given the short time per segment, so they just called them amphibians for the hell of it.

Okay, thanks.

My favorite part would have to be when the Arthropleurus (Giant Millipede) confronts the giant amphibian, only to meet an ironic and tragic end.
