Please tell me it has a comedic edge to it.

It amazes me the way people will continuously lump everyone that holds anything sacred as a "fanatic". Your comment was callous, hard and mean. No one is perfect, and it is a shame that you see people that want to share something beautiful with you as "thrusting" upon you.
If there was a fire in the house next to yours, wouldn't you want someone to tell you with urgency? If you choose to burn up, that's up to you, but I would rather not see someone perish just because they did not want to face the truth.
I think the world has enough anger and hate, why perpetuate it?

Wait...

Are you saying all this time, those fanatical Christians were merely trying to save me from the certain doom of Hell and eternal damnation?

Oh glorious day, I have seen the error of my ways, I going to embrace the Lord now! To think of all those times we went to church and they shunned us because my 17 yr old son lost his virginity to the pastor's daughter after they'd been dating for 4 years and were madly in love with each other. Or the time when the local boys of the church brutally beat up my other son in school, who is one of the kindest people you'll ever meet, and told him he was going to hell because he was a homosexual. Thank god they don't even talk to my daughter, because she's a hippie atheist with an open mind and good morals.

Yeah, what a beautiful thing.

"I think the world has enough anger and hate, why perpetuate it?"

You know what would make the world a better place? Not being mean to others just because they believe a few things different from you. Oh and not knocking on my door 7am on a Saturday trying to get me to join your religion and expect me to be all nice and inviting.

Jeeeeeesus, dude.
Were they Catholics?
Because that would make your story slightly less shocking.

I managed to watch about ten minutes of the screener, and it hurt too much to continue. No, no comedic edge as far as I could tell, but to be fair, ten minutes is probably not enough time to find out. I just don't have the strength to keep watching.

There is no comedy whatsoever. The trivia section info is incorrect, as the film is not based upon a comedy in any capcity.

reply

That's exactly what I was thinking..."Please make thisbe a Mel Brooks style comedy!" Are you serious? They're REALLY making this a dramatic musical? Crazy bastards....

reply

I just watched this and I wanted so bad to make fun of it and laugh it off, but actually it is a very well done stage production. It has its cheezy moments but after all it is a musical.

I'm into the movie about "mid-plague" right now, and as far as musical theater goes....it fairly well sucks. Some of the voices are beautiful, but the book is so horrible...they gave them incredibly awful material to work with. I love Val Kilmer, but next to the younger, obviously trained voices in the show, he pales in comparison. Still, if the subject matter turns you on, it might be worth your time. It seems like it's trying to be Aida, but it needs some work...still, I can't wait to see how they part the water...

I like Val's powerful voice. I know Ramses, Joshua and almost of them are really amazing high note.

"Prince of Egypt" was the same material, also a musical, and decidedly not a comedy.

It's actually not bad.
