Important Movie

This movie moved me in ways no other recent movie has. The story of one woman's personal journey from fear to forgiveness should be required viewing by anyone with a soul and a brain.

Instead of just sharing Eva Kor's perspective, the movie offers plenty of counter-views, including those of other Jews who were also put under the needle and knife of Mengele, as well as Jewish intellectuals and religious figures. Everyone seems to have their own take on the concept of "forgiveness" and many do not agree with Kor's perspective. However, it is important to point out that this is KOR'S perspective. She is speaking only for herself, nobody else, and she has that right. I also tend to agree with her perspective, that forgiveness is a tool that can be used to remove oneself from the endless suffering brought on by the perpetrators. She has truly found freedom from the fear and suffering wrought on her by these monsters, and for that, I commend her.

There are some particularly moving parts of this film, like when Kor meets one of the original Nazi doctors who worked at Auschwitz at the time she was there, or when her CANDLES holocaust museum is burned down. She is certainly a vivacious and driven woman, I couldn't disagree more with a poster in this forum who calls her "stupid". I just don't even relate. She is far beyond stupid, I believe her to be enlightened. And in this day and age, finding an enlightened soul is a rare thing indeed.

Beautiful woman. Beautiful movie. Highly recommended.

well said Bomankcmo....

fortunately... very few(if any) of us on this board have had to endure what she went thru...forcibly separated from her parents and other siblings....
enduring years at Auschwisz..enduring starving hunger...enduring testing at the hands of a mad man.... how could anyone minimize any of this...

I am not Jewish... merely a fellow human...I hope no one ever has to endure this ever again... I hope we(all of man) learn from this...

Much respect and credit to Eva Kor... just for surviving...
and then trying to educate...the lady is beyond courageous....

she was speaking for herself...not all survivors...and she never forgot...
she created her memorial museum.. and rebuilt it after it was burned down.
