Actually, there quite a few other actors that could have done a much better job.
I was, and still am disappointed with his performance.

he is charming and sexy but I, too, believe that they should have picked someone else ... I remember when I saw Chris's Noth as Mr Big for the first time ... you really believed that he was this big shot, rich, charming man. Everything from his posture to his speech helped towards that end.
I don't get that vibe from Joe. I just don't believe this guy had all this money and power. I keep trying to fall for the convention and then my mind goes: He's just an actor playing a part.

I think Andrew is great (and I'm someone Kirby's age). He was looking at Victory last night and just tilted his head to the side. It was incredibly endearing and was perfect.

Instead we get an innocence & vulnerability....AM still has a lot of cuteness to offer after all these years & enjoy seeing him again on the screen.
I enjoy watching Andrew McCarthy in this role, and I don't want anyone else playing Joe. I find Andrew sexy and endearing.

The book doesn't really expand on his character, but it is worth reading. I actually like it more than the TV show.

Andrew is way past his prime. He was adorable in the 80's but not so much anymore.
shareYou're wrong. He is not past his peak. He's better than ever. Sure, his looks have changed from the young innocent looking boy in the 80s to a mature sexy man. WE ALL GET OLDER and nobody is immune to "weathering." Andrew has that endearing smiling and blue eyes that are irresistable. He has a lot to offer as an actor. I'm happy to see he's doing movies and acting in the career he enjoys. I hate comments like yours that indicate actors are past their peak. Just because you get older in the business, it does not mean you are past your peak. Andrew is a great actor with intensity and would love to see more of him on TV and films. I'm sick of actors who are overly Hollywood. It's refreshing to see veteran actors like Andrew who in my opinion are REAL actors who enjoys their craft and not those overly publicized actors.

To be honest, I didn't think he was all that in Pretty in Pink. I saw him as an adult first before I saw any of his bratpack films, I had to check and double check the cast list before I believed it was really him. I liked him about 10 years ago in Kingdom Hospital.
