Movie too slow

I found this movie too slow, but typical for a certain genre of British films. Peter O'Toole was great. He's the only reason why I stayed with the movie. Perhaps I am from an extinct generation, I don't know. Cheers.

Why do you say that you are from "an extinct generation"? Those who are from an extinct generation are the ones who can appreciate a slow-paced film like 'Venus'. Actually your generation is at its zenith!
Nowadays most movies have a thousand cuts and a frantic pace that doesn't allows you to reflect on the subject of the movie (unlike 'Venus'), perhaps they have that frantic pace because the filmmakers knows their films are shallow and devoid of any meaning.

I thought that the film's leisurely pace was a welcome change from the typically frantic (as Clionauta stated) nature of today's films. I enjoy a story that can wrap everything up quickly, don't get me wrong, but every now and then it's nice to take a breath, get absorbed in the story, and really understand the characters and appreciate the performances. There was nothing flashy about this film. It was pretty bare-bones in terms of visual artistry. But it made up in substance what it lacked in style.

Optimism: Waiting for a ship to come in when you haven't sent one out.

I thought the pacing and the cinematography were perfect.

Wonderful movie, almost painful in its realities of life, but things we all have to face in life.

Who the heck is Clionauta??

"He carries illegal weapons, drives fast cars & wears clothes obviously designed by a homosexual."
