You know, the rising suspense was FANTASTIC.... but needs a new ending
This film has some of the most intense suspense I've seen in a long time... all the way up until the last ten minutes.
The movie just fell apart terribly with a let-down, cliche' ending. It's one of those films where you wish there simply was no ending. However, it could have done with a better one...
SPILERSPOILERSPOILER
(alternate ending)
When they arrive at the hospital, Jimmy's mother should have already been dead. This pushes him over the edge, and he goes after Micky. After a little chase and some close calls (mush like the beginning of the film), Micky helplessly watches (and films) Jimmy killing himself, stabbing his own eyes out on the street, not letting the cops take him alive... accepting his fate.
And for a final scene... Micky finishes editing the film himself, reviewing some of Jimmy's interviews, like in the last shot of the film. He finishes his documentary, and turns himself in for accessory to murder. The documentary is all over the news, eventually reaching the internet, spilling into the minds of millions of young, potential serial killers.
ENDSPOILER
Well, that's how I would have definitely ended the film.
What do you think?
