Internet requirements?

Quite possibly a dumb question, but does this game need to be registered online like Half Life 2? Coz i do not have access to the internet on my home computer at the moment.

the main reason i ask, is that an internet connection is listed as a minimum system requirement. is that only for multiplayer, or is that just to install?
