I'm just wondering if anyone else thinks Channing deserves an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for Stop-Loss? I do. I thought he gave an amazing performance. I think he should have recieved a nomination for A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. He was amazing in that movie too! But that is the past.
He probably won't recieve a nomination, but he deserves it! That's my opinion.
Channing's performance in Guide was very restrained and well done. That's the film that got me noticing him. He showed real promise. But not Award worthy. His performance in Stop-Loss had moments of greatness but was not consistent. He's getting better and better. If he plays his cards right, gets the right parts and puts the work in, he could really be something someday. I'm not excited about GIJoe (which has both Channing and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.) But he's also in the new Brad Pitt, Christian Bale film, "Public Enemies."
Added, 2012: my predictions are coming to fruition. Channing is being recognized for his acting. It took a LOT longer than I thought. He's done some really disappointing work, and is still relying much too much on stock facial expressions and voice inflection. But he's on his way. I repeat, he showed his potential in this film.
I feel the same way, noagenda. I think Public Enemies might get him a Supporting Actor nomination. And its Johnny Depp and Christian Bale, not Brad Pitt. ;)
I agree, Channing did a great job in this movie, i also like him in epic The Eagle

Must be on the short list for 22 Jump Street? He carried the film, steals every scene from Hill. But Hill is a real actor! Oscar worthy! He took the paycheck this time, didn't even try. But he's REAL actor. Dangerous line of thinking. Very underrated actor. Tatum, not Hill.
Haha, I was a big boys don't cry fan. I love war movies, especially anti modern war movies, but I was so disappointed with this. I felt the performance of the big bulky d bag marine was just so amateur. Did not know that man would become channing tatum at the time. He ruins most things he is in for me. Can't believe the poor taste people have believing he deserves an oscar. Pathetic!
