Did the guy in the hospital seem a little too happy given that within the past month or two he lost his leg, arm, and his eyesight in battle? I always thought someone who went through this would go through a depression during these first few months or even years.
shareI dont think any two people would act the same, Im sure some are depressed and Im sure some (like him) are just extremely happy to be alive, you never know how you would act until it happens to you I guess

The actor talked about meeting a guy in a similar situation to prepare for the role. He expected him to be all angry and bitter but he was very nice and upbeat. So we can assume Rico is trying to maintain a positive attitude - or at least putting one on so as not to worry the people around him. The way I saw it was that he was coping with his situation in his own way, but didn't want to worry or upset everyone else.
