Question about Quote from film

There was a quote in this film: 'We are your ghosts, in a farce played by monkeys and run by lunatics.' Would anyone know to whom this quote is attributed to? Many thanks in advance.

reply

Hi
The quote from the film is by Richard H Tawney - the character played by Patrick Kennedy.
Thanks for your interest in the film.
Best wishes

It's on again and if I might say is a cut about the usual tosh. If you get a chance to alter it, I'd suggest you add a relief map to make the lie of the land explicit and a couple of comments about its effect. (As well as avoiding the mawkish music).

I wish I had the chance to add a more uptodate and informative map. Alas it remains the film I made in 2005. Thanks for your comments. Regards. Carl

It's a wonderful piece of filmmaking, very poignant, and it reduced me to tears more than once.

The horror of the war is made all too apparent, yet as always it is the emotional impact of the battle on these brave men, and their doomed friendships with their comrades, that packs the biggest punch.

It's a very fitting tribute to their heroism, especially now that we have reached the centenary of the start of the Great War. It's also made me want to find out more about Capt Charlie May, who came across as a very remarkable and eloquent man.

The DVD will now be added to my (very select) home movie collection. Thank you, Mr Hindmarch, for this gem.

I totally agree with you there. I will just add that it is an excellent film, I almost felt I was there with them. I have watched this film 3x. If you have not read the book Johnny Got His Gun, I am sure you would, I want to say "enjoy", but that somehow is NOT the right word; a very engrossing read.
