Amanda was an idiot.

For someone who worked so closely with Jigsaw she didn't seem to take him very seriously in the end. If he's continually repeating something, maybe she should've paid more attention. Having said that, i found the Jeff subplot boring and i wish they'd just brought Gordon back instead.

I know this post is three years old and you'll likely not respond, but I rewatched this film not too long ago and, while I thought the same as you after my first viewing, I feel differently now. I'm not a fan of Amanda by any means--in fact, she irritates me more than just about any other character in the franchise--but I wouldn't call her an idiot. Rather, I think that deep down, she never actually had much interest in pursuing John's work after his death, what she really wanted was to be loved. It's strongly alluded to that she was abused as a child. My take is that she had a shattered sense of self, as well as abandonment issues, and basically turned John into an idol in her mind. And she couldn't bear the idea of "sharing" him with other potential apprentices, so she made the traps unwinnable. Eric Matthews--her first "test subject"--was a revenge endeavor for her. Had he passed his "test," I don't think Amanda would have let him live.
