You're Jeff: Who Would You Save/Forgive?

In the movie Jeff has the chance to save/forgive the woman who drove off after seeing the car accident that killed his son, the judge who gave the drunk driver who killed his son a slap on the wrist, the man who actually was the drunk driver who killed his son, and Jigsaw who set up this whole range of tests.

Personally, I would have saved/forgiven all the above except for the judge who gave the man six months in prison. I would have let him suffocate in pig soup. A judge has enough brains to know better and not make mistakes.

(P.S.: the only thing saving Jigsaw is that I couldn't kill a man on his death bed: irony)

None of them. Who knows though, I'm sure I'd be thinking a little differently if I were in his situation.

If I saw the girl freezing, I would save her. Freezing in that room is a terrible death.

I wonder however, was she supposed to warm up next to the furnace naked or what if he helped her?

I would save the judge because that too is a horrible death.

I would try my best to save tim as well.

However, I'm jeff, so I would let them all die.

reply

Cool Jamasian Man, I think I'm being too hard on the judge. Why should he be punished for having a better job/education?

Its ahrd to really say unless you were in Jeff's situation. Sure, morally its wrong to let them die. But people don't think about that under certain circumstances.

I'd want the man who killed my son to die...

reply

Jeff is such a pansy.
no matter what he does he acts to late (except the judge).

you're right when you say the judge should die.
but that is the only person Jeff saves?!

loser...

My mind goes back and forth on who should live or die, but I always seem to hate the judge the most. Perhaps I'm jealous?

I'd probably save the lady, cause she did nothing wrong. She was only scared.

I'd probably let the judge die, but then again, I wouldn't want to watch the poor guy die. So I'd save him...if I was Jeff though, let him go.

And the drunk...I'd try and save him, cause thats a messed up death.

And Jigsaw....I'd save him, cause he gave me a chance to approach the people who messed up and what not.

I would have saved them all no problem. It sucks that my son would have died but I really wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing I played a part in the murder of innocent people. Yes they are innocent because by law they did not commit a crime and Timothy served his sentence. Afterwards I would let them know I am still upset and mournful but they are free to go. And the girl would be meeting with me shortly thereafter with knee pads haha.

I would have forgiven as well because if not then you have committed a sin right there for letting the person just die like that.

the moral delima is that jeffs son was killed, not murdered.
murder requires intent. a child accidently hit, while tragic is not murder.

which means anyone jeff let die was a choice with intent. makeing him worse than any of those individuals, especially if he allowed his lust for vengance be the motivation.

the only real exception to the above is jigsaw.

reply

You are correct about that it was an accident that his son was killed. Yes Jigsaw is the only exception but still he is the one who is setting this all up though.

I want to say that I would let them all die. If I were in Jeffs situation I would like to see them all dead. I am well aware of the pain in loosing a child in a manner like that, though it was not my own child. I know the pain and dispair that Jeff went through. Had it been just a year or two since the childs death I would do absolutely nothing. But after some time you learn to live with it. But had I been in Jeffs mental state, still very much instable I would have definetly let them all die!

But really, when they all started shouting "I dind't do you anything", "save me" and *beep* like that I would probably end up doing nothing anyway. What is that? Like the witness, "I didn't do you anything". Thats the problem. SO, the more they talk to me and the more they try to convince me not let them die,I would problably just end up telling them to *beep* off and look at them die... or crawl up in a corner och close my eye and cover my ears and try not to notice as they scream of fear and agony!

reply

Knowing myself, I probably would've let them die.

I would have tried to at least do something to help them out of the trap. I mean I would expect the same thing if I was in that situation myself.

If you kill someone while driving under the influence, it IS manslaughter, not an accident.

I would have tried to save them all. It would have been nice if the man had gotten more then 6months but in this society it does not always happen. It was also right when someone said the time this man was thrown in prison would not have really consoled them at all, unless he got life in prison and if this was his first offense very unlikely that would have happened, which also explains the light sentence. From Timothy’s flashbacks he was truly broken up by it. Jigsaw was right his life was changed that day just like that little boy’s family. He probably thought of Dylan every single day, wishing that it had not happened. He likely needed tons of therapy, Could have even made him change his life for the better. Recently I read a story in readers digest of a man in his 30’s who accidently killed a girl (15) when he was about 17, now he wasn’t drunk. The girl on her bike was just suddenly there. He says how it took him years and years to deal with it and even decades later he is still dealing with it. This game shows exactly how hard it is to forgive others. But even harder then forgiving others is to learn to forgive ourselves.

The women in the freezer, she made a mistake but we all make mistakes. Even if she had testify I doubt he'd have gotten more then maybe 5 years and probably would have seen possible parole at about 3 years.

Lastly I’d have done it because I believe that no one will pass before their time. I know a lot of people don’t like hearing that. However we were not all meant to pass on at a very elderly age. It be nice if everyone died a peaceful death but that does not always happen either.

Vengeance or prolonged hatred (which can become internal poisons) rarely get anyone anything. All one does is spread the hurt and pain because this people (who died) also had families, parents, cousins, children, friends etc. Who would all be effected by their deaths just like Jeff and Lynn (and even their daughter) were effected by their son’s death.

It's spelled "affected"

Very interesting and profound with all of the information that you are telling me about the film and similar instances that have happened to people in the film or outside of it. You are correct about vengeance and hate being a poison that does not help solve anything at all.

I would only save Halden. He was innocent and only did his duty as a judge. Danica was a cold (ironic, eh?), heartless, and despicable monster who deserved to die. Timothy would be the cause for all of my pain and suffering in the first place because he made the stupid and irresponsible choice to drink and drive. I would have let him die too.

The drunk driver and probably the judge. I hated Danica the most, so I would let her freeze.
