Great to see Dick Ebersol

I love the 1981-85 Ebersol era.

I love Michaels eras 1975-1980, 1985-1995. The reason I end it at 1995 is because the show crumbled after that.

The First Five years are unbeatable. Overall, it just doesn't get better.

The Ebersol era is unfairly overlooked, tragically undervalued, unaccountably maligned, and my personal favourite in the history of the show.

The Lovitz-Carvey-Hartman-Miller years are classic. Smart. Sleek. Great.

The Sandler-Farley-Rock years were the most fun. Young. Dumb. Brilliant.

I stopped watching regularly when a certain Mr. Ferrell was hired. There were very few highlights. Except "Goth Talk". And Norm McDonald. And then they fired him. Idiots.

I have found the last 3-5 years sporadically watchable. Tina Fey, Chris Kattan, Tracy Morgan...good people. But still. The Ferrell-contamination is just too much for me to handle. I will never understand why this guy gets multimillion deals and "Piscopo"--who I think had considerably greater range--is uttered as a dirty word.

Then again, Ferrell is probably a really nice guy.

I hope this special comes out on DVD in expanded form as "The First Five Years" did. And I hope they're doing an "SNL--THE NINETIES" special....
