magic shoes

Does anyone remember a special episode of Saturday Night Live that was a short film festival hosted by Siskel and Ebert? It had some of the funniest moments in the history of the show in my opinion. Highlights include: Eddie Murphy as "Mr. White" in which he lived a day as a white man, Lifestyles of the "relatives" of the Rich and Famous starring Martin Short as Katherine Hepburn's maturnal third cousin! Also, my favorite which is called "Magic Shoes." In this clip, Rich Hall exacts revenge on his abusive grocery store boss by gluing pieces of the door censor pad to the bottom of an ordinary pair of shoes, making everything open as the person wearing the shoes walks by. I would like to see these clips again, and I'm wondering if they are on this special, of another dvd compilation. Anyone even remember what I'm talking about?

Yes - that episode has never resurfaced, but all of the films you mentioned were also on various episodes from 1984-1985.

They used to rerun it on Comedy Central. Siskel and Ebert were in that episode also

The revolution will now be televised. Sundays on Adult Swim.

You sure you're not thinking of the episode that Chevy Chase hosted (1982 premiere I think) that had Siskel and Ebert?

reply

No, Billy Crystal was the host even though he was a cast member at the time. Then, he did a sketch with them as Fernando.

Magic Shoes was absolutely one of the funniest things. I think in some ways it would be lost on today's generations because sensors from above open the doors now. But I would love to be able to see that again. Has anyone been able to find it online?

Oh I remember that skit with the magic shoes.

You may find that on the old defunkt Time-Life SNL best of by year VHS set. Each tape was represented by each year up until about 1992, I believe.

It was featured in the SNL special "Just Shorts" this year.
