Better than 1990 re-make!

This 2006 version of "Night of the Living Dead" is no masterpiece. Its just a fun, enjoyable homage to the original. I thought the 1990 version just tried too hard to be a "better" NOTLD, and it just didn't work for me.

Even the characters are more fun in this newer version, as rediculous as they are. This one is certainly more memorable, and might even be a slight "cult classic 20 years down the road. The 1990 version will be forgotten.

"The 1990 version will be forgotten."

If you say so...

I have to disagree. The 1990 remake was great and is remembered well even now after almost 20 years. I don't think it'll be forgotten, especially by Tom Savini fans.

r u high???!!!! the 1990 remake was a 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times better then the 2006 remake! or should i say recrap!

LMAO, thats exactley what I was going to say. The poster is a *beep* moron.

If life is so fair why do roses have thorns.

I agree. My only complaint about the remake was that Ben was zombified. Everything else was utterly perfect, especially how Savini used our knowledge of the original film against us. The opening zombie for example. You were so sure it was going to be the guy staggering up to them, just like before...instead it's just an old man. It also leaves you with somewhat low expectations of what the zombies look like. Then BAM! The real thing shows up.

And Johnny's death scene is truly wince worthy. When you see his head hit that tombstone...OUCH!

And THAT is where babies come from.

How can you be serious? The took an amazing zombie movie, and turned it into some modern bullsh^t that wouldn't happen. Like him texting her "They're coming for you Barb." I mean if he was a zombie, that doesn't make any sense. And they took a great movie and made it sh^t. And to make it worse they added sex and drugs and with a zombie movie, those aren't really needed. Actually they aren't needed in any horror movie but that's not the point.

Huh?

Johnny wasn't a zombie... yet.

Unlike the original he didn't die at the cemetery. He drove off, ditching Barb after getting bitten.

He text her while still alive, but is infected and dying. I keep reading that comment about the texting in reviews and I'm scraching my head; did we see the same movie? He was alive when he sent that message.

I'm pretty sure the original poster is just kidding.

reply

Wow, I hope you aren't serious mate. This movie was absolute rubbish through and through. Nearly unwatchable.

The 3D Dead Better then the 1990 Dead...I have to say you must be on the worst Acid trip of your life. I wanted my money back for buying the 3D bull...I love Zombie movies some that will be remebered to be great ok or just sucked...and the 2006/07 3D will be known for all times and the crap that needs to be flushed. tidy bowl that zombie movie please....the 90 remake was just as good if not better then the 1968 version.

Because we all know that events from the original movie could really happen and do make sense.
But aside from that, I won't go so far as to agree to the 2006 version being any cult classic. It was worth a watch for some laughs but I somewhat agree about the 1990 remake. Remakes that are made 99% exactly like the original just don't do it for me. If I want to watch the original movie that's what I'll watch. I don't see the point in watching an exact remake.

Fun characters? Cult Classic? WTF are you people smoking? This movie is practically un-watchable.. It's a huge steaming pile.. Dont even compare Savinis 1990 remake to this used tampon. If this is "remembered" it will be becuase it's the worst movie ever made.. Right up there with Zombie Nation.. If someone gives you this movie go ahead and watch it but dont pay 1 penny for it b/c it's not worth it. If I had anyhitng to do with this movie I would be ashamed.. They should apoligize for using the name NOTLD and Romero should sue them.

This is the worst one out off all 3 of them. 1990 version is my favourite know, so Im disagreeing with what you said :)

Try drinking bleach, its fun?

at least this version it is not a COPY as the 1990 version. Why would we want to watch a copy? This is nothing else than a genuine remake, similarly to all the other Dead remakes: just adding another parallel story and another perspective to the original one (allthough generally set in more contemporary context), exploring more characters and twists.
But if you prefer the original so watch the original and not the 1990 copy. This already happened with the interesting but useless COPY of Psycho...!
