hey people, this petition ahs been going on for a little while now, it already has quite a few signatures on it. Given the footage that Square Enix released as their showcase for the capabilities for the PS3 (which was the remake of the entire intro to FF7), I think it wouldn't hurt to ask. Sign it if you want it.
PS: feel free to post the petition anywhere you want
Personally, I know that a petition probably won't do much. But think about it, it if the company sees that people care enough to actually sign the petition it'll show that the company can make money off of it. Besides, given that there are planed releases for the Final Fantasy series all the way up to six on the Nintendo DS and all of the stuff that is going to be released as the compilation of FF7, there is a chance that an FF7 remake is already in the works (this petition would just help it along in it being released).
I honestly hope they don't remake the game. FFVII was perfect the way it was and to remake it with next-gen graphics would probably ruin the effect. Personally, I think they should just leave FFVII alone, they've done enough. Now it just seems like they're mooching off of a nearly ten year old game. What's next, a romantic thriller based on FFVI? A whiney beach movie based on FFX? Perhaps a children's movie based on FFIX?
? FFVII was great, noone in large numbers wants to make other FF games, and many will agree FFVII should be re-made for PS3, indeed probably should have done for PS2.
i hope they do remake it. its my favourite ever game but i havent been able to play it for about 5 years because my ps1 is broken and it doesnt seem to work on my other consoles (ps2/3), and i cant find where to get a new ps1. so the only way ill ever be able to play it again is if its remade.
the early bird catches the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese

Man, I would really like to see a next-gen remake of FF3(aka FF6) for the wii or something, or for the Playstation, whoever owns the rights nowadays. I'm not talking the new FF3 for the DS, I'm talking the oldschool Americanized Final Fantasy III for the SNES with Celes and her crew. If they could redo that without removing the plot, and perhaps even adding some new stuff, I would cry tears of joy. Next to VII, I honestly can't say which I enjoyed more. The plot was amazing, but VII was in 3D, which was an eye opener for its time.
with ffxiii cominf out for xbox 360 they should remake it for xbox also wouldnt it be nice to be playing one of the greatest rollplaying games of all time and hear achievements pop up for it
hay this is my first tym postn anything but i agree that there should b a remake 1. because we can relive the story im a whole new way enhanced graphics , new footage ( jus imagine the size of the game on the ps3 ) voices etc and 2. so that a new generation of fans can enjoy this great game the same age that i was wen i first watched and playd ff7 i could go on forever on why they should but 4 now im all for it!
1. There is nothing wrong with remaking a game because obviously FFVII is still making SE tons of money (i.e Advent Children)
2. It's almost impossible to find FF VII now. so if they remade the game, people who underestimated the game before or people who didn't hav a PS1 but will get PS3 get to play it.
3. Final Fantasy VII 's replay value is enormus and the story is so great that New and improved graphics would be the next step to ward the creation of the perfect RPG.
the rumors of a remake were confirmed last month by square enix.
i read this in the rumor section of game informer this month, that the previous things they reported were confirmed. it will have the final fantasy xii battle system.
Are you sure? I mean, I'm all for a remake since the only things that were wrong with the game (Don't get me wrong, the shocking replay value and sheer depth of the story as well as the amazing gameplay itself distracted me from it while playing through the game initially) was the fighting system (Turn based was all I knew of back then so I had no complaints) and of course the graphics (Cloud's 'hourglass' arms) which is what you said they'd be changing, but I remember looking for the Tech Demo as soon as I saw it featuring FF7 remade in "Cinematech" On G4 and going to gamestop.com where it said Square announced that there would not be a Remake of FF7 for the PS3 but there will be new Final Fantasy's for the console (FF13 is what I think they were speaking in reference too).
But, I seriously hope they/I am wrong and that you are right because I want a remake as much as the next FF7 fan.
youre all wrong guys, latest news shows that FF is not gonna continue its series on PS3, thats why they rushed FFXII, the FFVII demo we saw was a techdemo. There is alreaddy news bout FF completely moving to Wii and DS Serves Sony right, they screwed up the series with FFIX and FFX FFX-2, those games were awful, anyway ive been reading the licenses for FF have been getting their way back to nintendo. FF back to its origins, the new games will surely be better then the past 3. Sony should stay releasing games like race and sportsgames, thats all they are good at.
I am so late on this, but I heard that (rumor, mind you, like all the others) that they had confirmed that the remake may be released on Christmas 2008 or 2009. The person that posted it said they saw on a preview to something. Can anyone confirm this, or is it yet again another rumor to keep us wondering?
There will already be one anyway, they want to milk all of the ff7 fanboys.
I personally hated the story. (Flame on)
Just tell me one thing. If all of you Fanboys played this game before you could read, then how was the storyline the best you have ever played in a Video Game? I hear people all the time who say retarded stuff such as it has the best story, but they played it before they could read.
->->->S.I.S.F. Snape is Snape Foundation. It makes sense you know. I Love Lovegood.
I'm kinda in the middle when it comes to a remake. First off I LOVED FFVII in its original form. But frankly some of things are making me cringe now that I've gone back and started playing the game again, namely the goofy body shape (ie hourglass arms) the video quality of the cutscenes and the character quality. Now these kind of kiddy graphics were cute and kinda along the goofy style squaresoft had been using. But after watching things like Advent Children and Last Order that were very serious the game doesnt match up because of the campiness of the graphics. If they did make a remake I would hope it would be a light one, still use the prerendered back grounds, maybe just clean them up a bit with a higher rez version. Make the normal player models more realistic like those in FF8 and forward. Have Nobuo Uematsu redo the soundtrack in high quality sound instead of midi. and lastly redo the cutscenes in the Advent Children style, or even doing the anime style would be acceptable, although it would be a jump from square's normal style of things.
Euhm, the Game was released in 1996-1997 i believe, i'm not sure, i was alreaddy 11 years old when i played it, don't know bout you but i was able to read by then, anyway, you can always replay a game when you're older so leave stupid comments to yourself. And in my opinion it was the best FF storyline, FF8 was a better game, but the storyline was too easy to figure out "gay little kids in the same orphanige with the sorceress as their Matron and then loosing their memories after utilizing GF, a 6 year old stoned kid with Down-syndrome could come up with this. Anyway best storyline in a game from that age was Zelda ocarina of time, wich i also played at the age of 11 or 12. or possibly Metal gear solid, wich i also played when i was 11, although im pretty sure MGS4 will be better, i'll let you know when i played it.
In conclusion, Noah YOU ARE THE RETARD if you assume that people past the age of 20 dont game(if you are past 30 i agree, that is pathetic) and that nobody ever replays the good old FF's and knows the storylines of all of them by heart know. They're not that complex you know. My little brother played it when he was 8 and he had no trouble at all. Of course we're not intellectually challanged or retarded to put it in laymans terms
What's wrong with being 30 and gaming? I'm 18 but I don't see a problem with it, as long as it isn't an obsession along the lines of taking time out of your other activities (porking girls, your career, your kids) but gaming is the same as any male adult watching Sportscenter.
i dont know about the remake, i would buy it, but i think they should make a fighting game were u can play a large number of new and classic ff characters and villians, and of course cloud and sephiroth should be playable, im taking something intence a bench mark in squares rep. and not like that game energize or what ever it was called
I think a remake would be incredible. The only problem would be the dated battle system, which, as much as I loved it then, is just too simplistic. Despite what alot of people say, I loved Final Fantasy XII, and if that system were implemented in FFVII, then I'd be beyond hyped to get that game.
I highly doubt that the Final Fantasy series is going to continue on Wii or DS. They've only been getting the oddball spin-off series, like Crystal Chronicles. Sure, the DS is getting FFXII Revenant Wings, basically a sequel to FFXII, but that doesn't mean a thing. It's just a little spin-off. Trust me, I'm a huge Nintedo fan and I'd love to see the Wii get a major installment of the series, but it's highly unlikely.
To be honest, FF VII wasn't my favorite of the series. It was the first really great FF and set the series up for more amazing games, it just wasn't my favorite, though it was tons of fun. But i'm all for any of the FF games being remade. It is the best gaming series ever (just ahead of Resident Evil to me) and all of the games would be even better on the PS3. Final Fantasy VIII was my favorite, so i'd like to see them remake 7, then 8. They could throw 9 in there is they want to, but it was the weakest of those three. The ones on PS2 are already such great graphics it is unnecessary. I think they have made enough FF VII movies and games lately so they should do FF VIII first haha.
I know I'm a year late on this, but I want to comment anyway, haha. :P There's alreayd a fighting game called "Ehrgeiz". It's mostly an FF7 fighting game.
Oh! But Square has released another one for the 20th anniversary celebration of the FF series. It features characters all the way back from FF1 (yes, by that I mean they actually have the light warriors in there) until recent. I forgot what the name of it was -- I saw a trailer of it...a year ago, lol.
as for remakes, I don't see what's the big deal. I mean, like aren't the purpose of remake is to make the graphics and such look better and bring them on new consoles since the old ones are so hard to find these days. Someone earlier was complaining about storyline changes. I thought remakes don't do that? They've remade FF6 for the GBA...it's pretty much the same except with just a few new bosses and secret dungeons. And unlike it's PS1 remake, hmm I don't think there's an ending FMV.
ya, i mentioned that game, however i did mis-name it, but still, i think that game sucked hardcore, im talking a strickly final fantasy game, something nutz! besides, that game "Ehrgeiz" only had a few of FF7s toons. this would have alot more. has anybody everplayed that new DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3, it has over 120 characters, and its one of the best fighting games ive ever played, possibly the best. ive played a bunch of FF in my days, and im sure all lf u have too, everybody knows these ff toons, lets make them kick each others ass, thats all im saying
Gah, I hope they dont - next gen graphics just look really ghostly. Look at ffXIII - They dont look real - just like ghosts - imagine merging that with FFVII - a game famed for its cuteness and yet powerful story - the two go well together.
But hell, I wouldnt be surprised if the company decided to milk it for all its worth and make a remake.
i disagree, advent children shattered the cuteness of the game, and pointed us in the direction that they would take the imagery of the the whole FF7 world, its all down hill from there.all they have to do is aplly it to the story and a kickass combat system(while hopefully staying true to its orgin) and BOOM, u have FF7 the remake, not a detail of story missing, cuz u know those of us that played it 15 times through, lol, would throw *beep* once we came to the change
