Bonkers movie

i'm a pretty loyal movie fan, growing up as an action guy i was hooked on the movies of Van Damme, Seagal, Snipes etc. and being loyal i've tried my best to stick with them, even through the rough times.

I'll be honest my patience has been tested on many occasions, i've worked my way through nearly all of the 'european shot' movies of Van Damme and Seagal and some of them are just horrifically bad. I recently picked up a Snipes 6 Pack DVD set for a few quid in the UK and decided to work my way through them.

First up was The Detonator, which was standard european action, it was not a good movie and left me with that horrible feeling that i'd completely wasted my time by watching such a soulless and boring movie, i almost binned the set to save myself further punishement but decided to give Hard Luck a try, mainly for the Mario Van Peebles factor, and the fact that it wasn't shot in Europe.

I have to say, i loved it! To see Wesley Snipes actually look like he might even be enjoying himself on set, the wisecracking guy we all loved back in the 90's showed up and i thought he made a great double act with the lead actress.

The movie is just insane, i can see why people didn't like it and i understand that people probably just didn't get it, but the fact that it felt like 3-4 movies playing at once just made it all the more entertaining, i was never bored.

This is by far the best movie Snipes has been involved (where he's the lead) in since the Blade movies. It's been buried in the dreaded straight to dvd category so it's probably been passed over by many people, i definitly think this movie could get some kind of cult following though simply because its bonkers and straight up entertaining.

It's restored my faith in straight to dvd movies, ive seen so many bad ones but now and again i'll unearth a little gem and that's what happened here.

oh, and Cybil Sheppard was great!

It seemed like ever since Snipes' trouble with his taxes his movies have mainly been phoned in for a paycheck. But, I luckily caught this on USA just now and I'm loving it. It's quirky and fun and, you are right, this is a movie where the wisecracking Snipes is back in form. ;D

Watch your tongue, boy, if you like this job.
